Remote Thermographic Survey

  • Thermal Anomaly Detection

  • Fire Risk Assessment

  • Energy Efficiency Analysis

Remote Thermographic Survey is essential for marine vessel safety and efficiency. It aims to identify thermal anomalies and fire risks, such as overheating electrical components and insulation inefficiencies.

Its findings are vital for adhering to global and national thermal performance and safety regulations.

The Remote Thermographic Survey includes

Identification of thermal anomalies

The survey aims to identify areas of excessive heat or cold and areas where heat is being lost, which can indicate insulation issues or energy inefficiencies.

Fire risk assessment

Identification of potential fire hazards, such as overheating electrical equipment or poorly insulated hot pipes

Energy efficiency assessment

Results can be used to improve the energy efficiency of marine vessels by identifying areas where heat is being lost and making recommendations for improvement to avoid higher operating costs.

Reporting and documentation

Results are documented in a detailed report, which includes thermal images and recommendations for improvement. This information should be used to prioritize maintenance and upgrade projects.

Compliance with regulations

The survey can also help ensure that marine vessels comply with international and national regulations related to thermal performance and safety.

Scope of equipments check

Electrical systems

Identification of overheating electrical equipment, such as motors, transformers, and switchgear, which can be a fire hazard.

Insulation systems

Detection of insulation issues, such as areas where heat is being lost, which can negatively impact the efficiency of the ship's energy systems and contribute to higher operating costs.

Engine and machinery components

Identificaton of overheating components, such as turbochargers, exhaust pipes, and coolant systems, which can be a potential fire hazard.

HVAC systems

Identification of issues with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, such as poor insulation or clogged ducts, which can negatively impact energy efficiency and contribute to fire hazards.

Pipes and ducts

Detection of leaks in hot pipes and ducts, which can lead to heat loss and contribute to fire hazards.

It is easy and safe to use an EX or NON-EX smart phone for Remote Thermographic Survey to define if you have any issues.

Regulations

  • Surveys are carried out to comply with SOLAS regulations relating to protection of high temperature services: SOLAS 2014 - Chapter II-2 - Regulation 4 (contains regulations for fire safety, and Regulation 4 specifically deals with fire protection, fire detection and fire extinction systems.)
    Especially:
    2.2.6 Protection of high-temperature surfaces
2.2.6.1 Surfaces with temperatures above 220'c which may be impinged as a result of a fuel system failure shall be properly insulated.
2.2.6.2 Precautions shall be taken to prevent, any oil that may escape under pressure from any pump, filter or heater from coming into contact with heated surfaces.
